Medical Outreach

The ethos of Ben and Victoria Ononeze Foundation is based on the word of God in Genesis 12:2 which says, “I will bless you so that you will become a blessing to others”.

The outreach starts with prayers and message from a pastor or priest. This is followed by health education talks in various aspects of health with emphasis on prevention of diseases, for example basic hand hygiene to reduce typhoid infections.

The demographic details, vital signs and medical histories are obtained from the participants and are triaged accordingly by nurses to see the doctors. Each patient is seen by a volunteer physician who reviews them and provides a prescription. In some cases, the patients are referred to tertiary centres for specialist investigations and management. Those who are diagnosed with mature cataracts are reviewed by the consultant ophthalmologist to assess their suitability for cataract surgery.
